So far on our blog we’ve shown you some of the benefits of Simonton replacement windows, Marvin fiberglass windows, and many other reputable brands. Today we’re going to show you the pros and cons of Milgard fiberglass windows so you can determine if they are the right choice for your home.
When we talk about Milgard fiberglass windows, we’re specifically talking about their Ultra Series and their WoodClad Series. And if you’re considering this option, it’s probably safe to say you’ve been told that fiberglass is the correct solution for your home. Is it? A product you can paint is something many homeowners prefer and can make either of these options a good fit.
But before you make up your mind, let’s review some of the features of the Ultra and Wood Clad Series to see if it’s the right fit for your situation.
Milgard Fiberglass Windows: The Pros
The Ultra and WoodClad Series is used for replacement and new construction projects. We’ve noticed that it does a pretty solid job of maintaining seal integrity while remaining fog free.
In fact, here are a few more examples of why we often recommend this product to our homeowners:
- Nice job of withstanding the elements
- They can look like traditional painted wood windows
- You can paint them any color you desire
- They come in numerous color options
- Unrivaled customer support (in HomeProHub’s opinion)
- 50 years of industry knowledge
- Lifetime warranties
- Not as expensive as Marvin fiberglass windows
As you can see, there are certainly a lot of reasons to consider Milgard fiberglass windows. But in our opinion here at HomeProHub, the jury is still out on fiberglass. We only suggest them to our customers in certain scenarios – probably 1/50 jobs to be honest.
We just aren’t sold on the technology in light of the lack of long-term studies. It’s also 50% more expensive than vinyl windows. This can be a critical point to consider if your budget can’t quite handle the expense of the Ultra or Wood Clad Series. And don’t you dare go over your budget. Once you’ve decided upon it, stick to it!
